The Role
Reporting to the South Island Sales Manager (and GM of Distribution), this role is focused on maintaining and growing Robertson’s business across allocated distributor outlets and developing new specification and project opportunities throughout the territory.
This is a field-based position involving regular travel to merchant customers, distributor outlets, architect and client sites.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Territory & Distributor Management
- Maintain and grow sales across allocated distributor outlets
- Contribute to annual sales budgets and develop clear strategies to achieve them
- Ensure strong product presence, merchandising standards and optimal display space
- Monitor inventory levels to support availability and sales responsiveness
- Strengthen outlet relationships and promote new product launches and promotions
Business Development & Specification
- Develop new business opportunities with architects, designers, builders, plumbers and developers
- Identify and refer major project opportunities within the territory
- Maintain structured call cycles and customer service programmes
- Actively support and propose territory-specific promotional initiatives
Customer Service & Product Expertise
- Provide timely, accurate product information and support
- Maintain excellent knowledge of Robertson products and competitor offerings
- Keep customers informed of new ranges, pricing updates and supply information
- Proactively follow up on enquiries, delays and project requirements
Market & Territory Performance
- Monitor competitor activity and provide market feedback
- Maintain accurate reporting (call reports, expenses, sales updates)
- Support overall territory growth and gross profit performance
