BOLD AND AUTHORITATIVE WITH PRECISELY MACHINED DETAILING.
Much of what is now regarded as contemporary design is rooted in Bauhaus. Landmark Industrial is faithful to the rational functionalism redolent of Bauhaus and a modern interpretation of the values and style of the designs it pioneered.
Perfect function and beautiful form, achieved by the use of the finest materials and a selection of finishes that delight the senses, are also the values embedded in Samuel Heath’s long manufacturing tradition.
These core values of acute attention to detail and the use of innovative processes are identified in each expertly manufactured piece of Landmark Industrial. The collection fuses raw with refined in a celebration of contemporary design.
Integrity and provenance are the foundations of Samuel Heath. A bedrock which has been in place since 1820 when the company first began to manufacture the finest pieces of solid brassware from its premises in Birmingham, England.
The company began as a traditional brass founder and has produced over the years a vast array of products from bedsteads to high quality giftware and fireside accessories. Today however it is as a manufacturer of bathroom accessories, taps, showers and architectural hardware that Samuel Heath has built a worldwide reputation for stylish design, quality and performance.
As a responsible English manufacturer, sustainability remains of utmost importance to Samuel Heath. Luxury need not to cost the earth and the company believes you can choose quality and style without compromising the planet.
Making high quality products is not just about the end result, but about the process in which products are made and Samuel Heath works hard to minimize its impact and ensure the highest levels of environmental accountability. All of the company’s products are made in-house at its English factory. From design and tooling, to machining and electro-plating, Samuel Heath has complete control over the quality of its products and its manufacturing process at every stage.
Only the finest quality materials are used and these are sourced locally to the factory, whilst 80 per cent of the company’s raw materials and packaging are made from 80 per cent recycled materials. Energy consumption and waste production within the factory are monitored carefully and a comprehensive water recycling and brass reprocessing programme ensures efficiency and responsibility throughout.
There are no shortcuts at Samuel Heath. Which is why craftsmanship still lies at the heart of the company’s manufacturing processes. Alongside state of the art manufacturing technology a unique blend of traditional time-honored techniques are employed to ensure the highest quality of production.
Craftsmanship is core to Samuel Heath’s continued pursuit of manufacturing excellence. Whilst individual components are precision machined, to ensure the inherent strength of the metal is retained and enable the precise manufacture of intricate designs, the meticulous attention to detail that is required to produce the finest bathroom fittings and architectural hardware means that experienced craftsmen finish every product by hand.
Samuel Heath insists on hand polishing for example to ensure the smoothest and most adhesive surface for high quality plating. Each component goes through multiple stages of hand polishing by our skilled craftsmen. The requirement is a perfectly smooth finish for flawless plating. It takes many years to fully train a Samuel Heath polisher, but investment in people and quality has always been at the company’s heart.
Quality and integrity are still the key reasons that people buy English products. Manufacturers in England often offer a level of reassurance that can’t be offered elsewhere, with more transparency when it comes to the provenance of their products and the sustainability of their manufacturing processes.
Yet increasingly the demand for English products is also about the recognition of high-quality, high-end design as English designers and manufacturers become internationally recognized for innovation and quality.
Samuel Heath take the design of its products seriously and whilst manufacturing a new piece can take a couple of days in the factory, the work done in developing and designing a new product or collection spans months, if not years. The development of design technology has certainly contributed to our ability to explore new design and the aim is to produce products that offer excellence in both form and function.
